Telvent is seeking a Buyer in our Houston, Texas office. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, experience with supply chain and pricing, and four or more years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities:

• Research and selection of suppliers based on corporate payment terms, price, quality and delivery requirements
• Educate and request Greenhouse Gas and social responsibility information from suppliers
• Pricing and contract negotiations
• Create request for quotations and contractual agreements
• Coordinate agreements with legal department to ensure corporate legal requirements are included in supplier agreements
• Process purchase orders
• Maintain and identify economic order quantities to manage inventory costs, where applicable
• Promote and encourage employee commitment to the company’s quality and environmental policies and objectives
• Any other Purchasing related activities as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years experience in purchasing
• Strong contract negotiation skills
• Solid written and oral communication, analytical and organizational skills
• Strong planning skills and an ability to work under tight and multiple deadlines
• Proven customer service orientation, attention to detail, strong results orientation and a flexible approach to work responsibilities
• Strong skills in computers, including Microsoft Word, intermediate Excel and Power Point
