Responsibilities

As a member of the MS Server group, the Senior Server specialist's major responsibilities are to take a lead role in the IT operational practices for the group.Candidate must possess an "enterprising way of thinking", with extensive demonstrated capability to handle a senior technical role. Will understand and appreciate the need for processes, change control, and infrastructure stability.

Specific duties include:

·      Provide technical guidance and solutions for the development, enhancement and operation of network, server infrastructure that is reliable, scalable, available and robust, while meeting the standards set by the IT organization.

·      Possesses advanced Active Directory and Exchange experience.

·      Provides technical research and advice for new technologies and service enhancements.

·      Ability to design networked Systems/Services using proven methodologies.

·      Investigate, propose and develop innovative solutions to enhance Infrastructure operations and capabilities.

·      Responsible for all aspects of information technology projects, including requirements definition, planning, design, technical evaluation, scheduling, deployment, transition to support.

·      Oversee operations by adhering to all change management processes and documentation requirements.

·      Leads systems maintenance and network upgrades.

·      Oversee day-to-day operations of network and server services, technical problems, and escalations from other support groups.

·      Ensure that appropriate and consistent solutions are provided. A mind set that perceives technology and solves business problems.

·      Possesses advanced Microsoft back office skills and experience.

·       

Core Competencies

Technical

·      Exposure to Oil and Gas industry

·      Experience working in a consulting environment

·      Has in-depth knowledge and experience with IT Infrastructures

·        7-10 years experience with:

Intel server experience, preferably HP Proliant

Windows 2003 ServerWindows/ 2000 Professional/XP

Active Directory ; Exchange Server 2003(greater than 1000 clients)

Citrix XenApp, 5.0, 4.5 environments. Nfuse/Terminal Server

VMWare ESX

Microsoft App-V

SAN/NAS Storage technologies

MS Back Office (IIS, SqlServer)

Desktop Infrastructure Optimization technologies (SCCM, SCOM, WIM, WDS, etc..)

TCP/IP protocol suite and Ethernet networks, Nortel/CISCO LAN/WAN networks and Telecom

Alerting and Monitoring tools, Nagios, HP SIM, SCOM, ORION, UPSIDE

VB or other scripting languages

Internet and Intranet technologies

Information security concepts

Firewall technologies

 

Non-Technical

·        Highly developed problem solving abilities

·        Superior verbal and written communication skills

·        Strong documentation skills and practices

·        Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet tight deadlines

·        Leadership qualities, promotes quality, integrity, reliability and teamwork

·        Willing to take ownership,displays a positive attitude and has ability and desire to advance

·        Ability to work in a dynamic group whose job it is to provide nothing but excellent service to the client.

·        Ability to mentor and help promote staff members, shares knowledge

Education

·        A Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience, with 7+ years related post-secondary experience.

·        A Technology Diplomaor equivalent industry experience with 9+ years related post-secondary experience (related post-secondary experience means working in the IT domain of Windows Servers and Ethernet networks)

·        MSCE, Citrix, Networking or VMware certifications.
