Roles & Responsibilities

This position is assigned to fully qualified professionals and is used to describe those whose work is exclusively focused on the technical definition and leadership of a project.This position will typically be assigned to lead projects that are considered to have an above average risk with respect to technical definition or a requirement for strong leadership. Pilot projects and multi-team projects are other typical assignments.
Detailed responsibilities include:
- Working directly with our Customer's Engineering and Operations staff to determine the requirements of a system
- Guiding other members of the department in the implementation of technical aspects of the project, once the scope of a project is defined
- Completing varied assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of technology and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields
- Solving problems using a combination of standard procedures and new approaches when required
- Leadership responsibilities include providing technical guidance to other members of the department
- Training for a person at this level is usually provided on an as needed basis, the individual participates in assessing his/her own abilities and planning for required training, training may be focused on technical or business skills
- Scheduling and are generally responsible for their own time commitments
- Responsibilities include mentoring of senior developers in the skills needed for the Project Leader position where the opportunity is present

Technical:
- 8+ years related post-secondary experience in software/systems development, preferably in the SCADA industry
- Specification and technical requirements analysis
- Determine the viability of equipment and systems integrated to the project
- Identify the most appropriate solution based on defined criteria's (profitability, deadlines, risk etc)
- Define and execute FAT and SAT tests of projects

Education
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline such as Math, Physics or GeoScience, or a Technology Diploma (with 10+ related industry experience)
- An Engineer in this position will be a registered professional in the province and with APEGGA
