Apply hydraulics and fluid dynamic knowledge in the hands-on design, development and support of a pipeline simulation product. Provide technical support to projects and modeling engineers as to the product's features and capabilities; provide estimates for product modifications and/or enhancements; provide technical guidance and assistance to Lead Engineer and project/proposal team members. Evaluate technical quality issues, identify technical improvements, maintain compliance to industry standards, and assure quality of deliverables to provide cost benefit improvements for the discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Perform development of complex hydraulic algorithms as it relates to pipeline modeling applications
- Technical responsibility for product development life cycle of the pipeline modeling product
- Ensure the necessary level of technical assurance and integrity is achieved through coordination and validation of engineering activities
- Develop/implement engineering specifications, standards, procedures and guides in line with international standards and practices
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to Engineering staff
- Ensure the required levels of Quality Assurance are achieved and maintained based on international and/or client standards
- Check and guide the discipline on complex design issues, ensure design integrity and advise on technical issues associated with upgrades and implementation
- Identify and review new technological developments/ practices which may provide more efficient and cost effective solutions.
- Perform detailed reviews of critical documents e.g. piping material specifications, technical bid evaluations, etc.
- Perform technical audits
- Interface with/provide clarification, guidance and technical support to project sites and commissioning engineers as and when required
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline where thermal hydraulics and fluid dynamics are a primary component with an emphasis on how these are applied to pipelines
- Minimum 8 years relevant, progressive work experience within field (Minimum 3 years experience with graduate or doctorate degree)
- Programming experience in various languages including: FORTRAN, C/C++ and C#
- Experience in Microsoft Development tools required
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
- Computer Science experience a plus, but demonstrable experience in the development of simulation systems and/or programmatic experience in hydraulics is required
