Simosa IT, Abengoa's corporate IT organization, provides IT services to more than 100 Abengoa companies in 50 different countries.We currently have an opening in our systems team for a System Administrator to help support the IT infrastructure in North America.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

As a member of the Simosa IT corporate IT team, the System Administrator reports to the Manager, Systems & Communications Infrastructure and is responsible for Level 2 support of the corporate IT infrastructure, including Network, Servers, Active Directory, etc.

This position is also responsible, under the guidance of IT architects, for the planning, design, and implementation of IT infrastructure enhancement and upgrade projects. Specific duties include:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of network and server services, technical problems, and escalations from other support groups
  • Perform systems maintenance activities and network & server upgrades
  • Assist in the implementation of IT infrastructure upgrade & enhancement projects
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions for operation of network and server infrastructure that is reliable, scalable, available and robust, following the standards set by the IT organization
  • Communicate & coordinate activities with extended Simosa IT teams in Spain
  • Follow ITIL best practices for change management
  • Occasional travel required within North America

Education & Experience preferred:

  • A Degree in Computer Science or Technology Diploma with 5+ years related experience
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with IT systems infrastructure, including:
  • TCP/IP protocol suite, LAN/WAN networks, Cisco IOS, VLAN support
  • Windows 2000/2003 Server and Active Directory
  • Symantec Antivirus & Endpoint Security
  • VPN and Citrix remote access technologies
  • Symantec BackupExec
  • Results oriented
  • Highly developed problem solving & troubleshooting abilities
  • Able to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Leadership qualities, promotes quality, integrity, reliability and teamwork
  • MSCE or Cisco networking certifications would be an asset
  • Spanish language would be an asset
