Telvent Smart Grid Solution Passes EPRI Interoperability Testing

Telvent Outage Management System is deemed “smart grid ready” in the industry’s first interoperability testing by the Electrical Power Research Institute

July 15, 2010 – Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced today that its outage management system (OMS), Telvent OMS Responder^®, passed the industry's first smart grid interoperability test of the International Electrotechnical Commission/Common Information Model (IEC/CIM) 61968 standard, Part 9 profile for meter data interchange. Telvent is one of only two companies, including General Electric (GE), that achieved recognition by EPRI for its OMS solution. By passing the interoperabilty test, Telvent demonstrated the reliability of its smart grid solution by seemlessly integrating Telvent OMS Responder with other industry providers' technology.

All Telvent smart grid technology offers standards-based interoperability aligned with government and industry priorities. This is key to the concept of a smart grid, which can only be achieved through the collaboration of multiple devices and software from many different providers. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is driving development of industry-wide IEC/CIM standards for the integration of smart grid systems and technology components.
