Telvent is seeking a Sales Software Engineer role to specialize in configuring and demonstrating the ArcFM Solution to existing and prospective customers. Please read full job description below.  

Job Description:

The Programmer role will specialize in developing custom applications based on Telvent’s ArcFM Solution. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in computer science, excellent communication skills, proficiency in object-oriented design and knowledge of developing end-user applications with C# or Visual Basic .NET. The applications will range from the creation of business rules within the ArcFM framework to web applications and services. The Programmer will, over time, develop a deep understanding of all Telvent and ESRI products and will perform product demonstrations for clients and in benchmark situations.This person will work closely with the Telvent sales force in prioritizing demonstration software and data needs. Previous experience with connecting to commercial databases systems, such as SQL Server and Oracle, working with Microsoft Silverlight, and programming with ArcObjects is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain custom .NET applications
• Prototype new applications based upon input from clients and the sales/marketing team
• Provide sample code for developers customizing Telvent products
• Prototype integration of Telvent products to third party applications and systems
• Maintain current versions of demonstration software to current release of product software and sample data

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Convert and manipulate data of all types
• Configure GeoDatabases
• Configure solution tools, such as Work Flow Manager and compatible units
• Setup and maintain sample web sites and mobile applications
• Provide technical support to sales team
• Provide software demonstrations as needed

The Programmer will normally be working on multiple tasks and will need the ability to multitask effectively.This position will require travel, both domestically and internationally.Travel will typically not exceed 25% but extended travel with relatively short notice does occur. One (US) to two (international) weeks travel time is common for benchmark situations depending on complexity of benchmark.

Position Requirements: 

• BS degree in computer science, engineering, or geography (or related field with computer emphasis). Relevant job experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with a GIS such as ArcGIS or other ESRI products a plus. Experience with Smallworld or Intergraph will also be considered.
• Experience developing end-user applications with an object oriented programming language, such as C# or Visual Basic
• Experience with ArcObjects and ArcGIS Server is a plus.
• Experience with commercial RDBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server preferred.
• Experience with utilities is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
