Telvent is seeking a Smart Grid Technical Leads to ensure that applications project software is designed, developed and maintained in an efficient and consistent manner and that the software meets end-user requirements.Please read full job description below.

Job Description

The individual will provide technical leadership for two to three concurrent projects that require significant custom software development. For each project to which he/she is assigned, the Technical Lead should have a full understanding of implementation requirements and how multiple pieces of the implementation will fit together.

They will work with Project Managers to define the best technical approach to meet custom software requirements. The Technical Lead will work with the PM to determine the best approach for implementing a set of customization requirements. They must also help ensure code is developed in a consistent manner and will operate correctly when installed with current code; this may be accomplished by periodic code reviews, code walkthroughs or other similar processes. A Technical Lead will also provide technical guidance and support to the Analysts and Senior Analysts within the Delivery Team, on issues of general software design, development and delivery outside the context of any specific project.

Telvent Technical Leads must be self-motivated, flexible and able to learn new technologies and processes as these become important to our business. Duties may include management of multiple simultaneous projects involving different software technologies.

Travel domestically and internationally, about 30 to 40%, will be required.

Position Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline such as Math, Physics or Geoscience.Relevant job experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Technical experience in implementation of utility engineering software solutions such as Outage Management Systems (OMS), SCADA, Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and/or Engineering Analysis (EA).Technical experience in implementation of other utility engineering software solutions such as Outage Management Systems (OMS), SCADA, Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and/or Engineering Analysis (EA).
  • Technical experience with ESRI GIS products and solutions is a plus.
  • Experience managing projects involving integration between multiple enterprise software products.
  • Experience developing end-user applications and interfaces with an object oriented programming language, such as C# for both the desktop and web.
  • Experience with commercial RDBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server preferred.
  • Experience working with electric, gas, water and wastewater utility companies preferred
