Job Description

The primary role of the Technical Writer is to produce and maintain end-user documentation that describes the use and operation of Telvent Utilities Group products.This includes researching, writing, and maintaining using and configuring help documentation.It also involves editing documents and presentations created by other team members. The Technical Writer must have strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; proven research, writing, editing, and organization skills; and knowledge of current desktop publishing, HTML and graphics software.Experience with databases and GIS tools is a definite plus.The Technical Writer will: 

• Research, write, and maintain using and configuring help documentation that describes the operation and use of Telvent products. Track progress on specific product enhancements.
• Attend internal functionality demonstrations and offer suggestions for improved work flow and user interface for new functionality. This includes writing and editing written communications visible within the product (e.g., message boxes, error messages).
• Maintain a depth of familiarity with the using/configuring/customization aspects of a smaller portion of the product suite with the ability to troubleshoot functionality issues and maintain a troubleshooting guide to assist users.
• Edit documents and presentations created by other team members.
• Walk through software functionality and test all user documentation to ensure quality, clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
• Participate in Agile process as part of a scrum team. Identify, track and complete documentation tasks within the team-defined iterations.
• Work with Software Engineers and Program Managers to understand the functionality and client use cases, and translate this data into summary and/or step-by-step documentation easily understood by non-technical end users.
• Ensure that documentation accurately reflects the operation of Telvent products.
• Log any functionality defects encountered while documenting the functionality.

Position Requirements 

·       BS degree in English, Technical Communication, GIS or related field.

·       Solid written and oral communication skills.

·       Knowledge of HTML, desktop publishing and graphics software.

·       Experience writing C# code a definite plus.

·       Must pass background check.
