Registration & Connecting

After you have downloaded and installed DTN ProphetX® , and then launched the program the first time, you will need to register your name, e-mail, address, etc. with Telvent DTN - you may have to re-connect.

Before contacting technical support, please follow the instructions below.

If you have already registered and are connected, and want to know how to get started using DTN ProphetX,  skip the rest of this section and go to the documentation on the left for the version of DTN ProphetX you are using.

Registering

The first time you start DTN ProphetX, you must enter all of the information requested on the User Registration screen. This information will include the following:

  • Your User ID:  Your e-mail address.
  • Your preference for a primary source of news; Ag, Energy, Metals or Active Trader.

Check the diamond on the status bar at the bottom of your DTN ProphetX window.  If it is red, you did not connect. Please continue reading.  Otherwise, refer to the resources at left to help you get started using DTN ProphetX.

Connecting to the Quote Server

When you open DTN ProphetX, it automatically connects with your quote server. If it fails, the diamond on the status bar at the bottom of your DTN ProphetX window will be red. If this happens, click on the change server button for the version of DTN ProphetX you are using.

In the Connection Properties dialog box:

  • Internet Clients (you are connecting to a Telvent DTN off-site quote server via the internet) select prophetx1.dtn.com.
  • Corporate Clients (you are connecting to an on-site corporate quote server via your internal network) select the name of your quote server

Click the Connect button.

The diamond on the status bar will now alternate between blue and aqua and you are connected.

INTERNET CLIENTS

Quote Server Not Connecting

If you receive an error message stating something like "Router is Down/Connection Lost/Login Rejected/Unknown User Name xxxxxxxxxxxx(your user name)" the system thinks you are still logged in. You need to wait for 5 minutes from the time you were disconnected and try to connect again. (Corporate Internet clients may not see this error message)

(Corporate Internet clients only)If you still do not connect and if you are a corporate Internet user, please contact your IS personnel to make sure that:

  • Your proxy server handles non-proxy clients
  • Your fire wall has TCP port 20001 opened for outbound connection, return sockets wide open

If you still do not connect to the quote server, please e-mail support at: prophetx@dtn.com. Please include the following information in your e-mail:

  • Your name and company(if applicable)
  • Your phone number
  • Your Internet Service Provider(ISP)
  • You received documentation from your Internet Service Provider. Please look at this document and provide us with the IP addresses for their gateway and domain name server. This will allow us to do some troubleshooting on this end before we contact you.
