This Desktop Publisher will edit, format, and structure text and graphical input from technical experts into final submittal format, adding artistic elements to produce aesthetically attractive proposals for submittal to clients.This person works with other Business Development personnel, including Proposal Managers, Proposal Coordinators, Graphic Artists, and Technical Writers, in a team environment.

Job duties include:

  • Format proposal responses, resumes, project descriptions and other proposal elements in a manner that captures the reader's attention and emphasizes the key points while adhering to submittal requirements and corporate style
  • Make proposals more attractive and readable by providing artistic flare
  • Create, revise, and maintain the proposal templates, forms, and tools in MS Word and MS PowerPoint, adhering to corporate branding and style guidelines
  • Perform basic editing:proofreading spelling, grammar, sentence structure; ensuring consistency; labeling/numbering tables, figures, and exhibits
  • Organize and maintain proposal artifacts, boilerplate, samples, etc. to support rapid proposal development
  • Prepare final documentation for submittal to client
  • Produce the paper and electronic copies of submittals

Education, experience, special skills and knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Communication, Journalism, English, or other related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant professional experience.(Experience may include internships.)
  • Must possess advanced skills in MS Word and MS PowerPoint:manipulating text, tables, and graphics for aesthetic effect; use of styles, templates, and macros
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of or training in document publishing styles and rules for the use of color, spacing, fonts, graphical elements, etc., to produce aesthetically pleasing documents
  • Ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit and finalize business material and technical documentation
  • Ability to work under high pressure, stressful, and deadline-driven working conditions
  • Excellent use of the English language for editing
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Knowledge and understanding of government contracting procedures; experience with Federal/State Government proposal development; experience in the transportation industry
  • Must function well in a team environment and be able to work overtime on occasion
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, but not required
