Responsibilities

Telvent has a career opportunity for a motivated person to join our development team.

This person will have strong software engineering skills and oil and gas software experience to work as a member of our project team. This individual will be capable of completing varied assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of technology and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields.

This individual will play a role in the development of new and enhancement of existing desktop, server-based and web applications for gas and utility clients.

Telvent Programmer Analysts must be self-motivated, flexible and able to learn new technologies and processes as these become important to our business. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving, object-oriented programming, and client relation skills.

Travel domestically and internationally will be required.

 

Core Competencies

Technical

·2 Non-GUI C programming experience including:

    • Bit and byte level processing
    • Creating higher level protocols such as modbus and DNP

·Experience developing end-user applications and interfaces with an object oriented programming language, such as C# or VB for the desktop will also be considered.

·Experience in the development and deployment of Java-based Web Servlets including:

oHTML

oCSS

oJ2EE

oJSP

oSQL

oJavaScript

oTomcat

oHibernate

·Experience with commercial RDBMS such as SQL Server including:

    • designing tables, store procedures, and data flow
    • managing greater than 10 million records
    • managing greater than 100 related tables
    • query and performance optimization

·Experience working with any of the following development frameworks or tools is an asset

    • WinForms
    • WCF
    • Microsoft Sharepoint
    • Microsoft Infopath
    • SQL Server Reporting Services
    • SQL Server Integration Services
    • SQL Server Replication

·Experience working with Oil & Gas automation or data acquisition industry is an asset.

Education

·A Master's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with work experience in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline such as Math, Physics or GeoScience.
