 Telvent

vendor for crude oil, refined products and natural gas liquids
pipeline engineering, and operational, measurement and business
processes.
Telvent's suite of liquid pipeline applications includes; Liquids
Management System (LMS), SimSuite Pipeline and POLARIS Liquids
and is utilized by more than 35 liquid pipeline operators, including
some of the world's largest. All applications are feature rich,
robust, and flexible and can be cost effectively integrated
into a variety of existing realtime and corporate IT infrastructures
to provide high levels of data and information accessibility.
Liquids Management System (LMS)
LMS comprises a number of flexible, high performance modules
that meet a variety of realtime operational needs.
- Metering & Ticketing - Determines net metered volumes
and flow rates for each point of measurement in the pipeline
system, utilizing standard American Petroleum Institute
(API) calculations. The Ticketing functionality package
provides the ability to store, view and edit pending, active,
and completed tickets. The application also accepts batch
movement schedules from third party applications.
- Meter Proving - Provides the interface between the Control
Center Operator and the physical meter prover and performs
the necessary calculations for calculating meter factors.
- Tank Management - Monitors tanks, calculates tank volume
and flow rates and generates various alarms and events.
- Batch Tracking - Tracks movements and predicts the estimated
time of arrival for batches and anomalies through a pipeline
system, assuming steady-state flow conditions. Pipeline
pressures/temperatures, batch and anomaly positions, and
ETA's are calculated.
- Leak Detection - Detects leaks via a steady state volume
imbalance calculation methodology. Includes four independent
adjustable alarm limits which can be set for each of six
integration periods.
- Pump Statistics & Validation - The Unit Statistics component
calculates unit statistics for individual pumping units,
calculates efficiency of a station, records daily and accumulated
pump unit statistics historically, resets unit statistics,
permits editing of unit statistics and provides unit statistic
reports. The Unit Validation component monitors all stations
and their associated pump units to ensure that maximum station
power is not exceeded. It also monitors each unit start
to ensure that certain conditions are met.
LMS grew from humble beginnings in the early 1990's, to where
it is today, the world's most widely utilized liquid pipeline
realtime operations software system.
SimSuite Pipeline
SimSuite Pipeline is a very technologically advanced transient
pipeline simulation system, with a variety of on-line realtime
and off-line simulation applications.
On-line realtime applications include; batch tracking, pig tracking,
leak detection, and virtual telemetry. Off-line applications
include; engineering/design analysis, operational (predictive/look-ahead)
planning, and control center operator training/evaluation.
SimSuite Pipeline provides many distinctive features and benefits,

POLARIS Liquids
POLARIS Liquids provides a comprehensive commercial accounting
solution which accelerates cash flow and increases operational
efficiency. It integrates ticketing, volumetric accounting,
revenue accounting, billing and customer reporting, irrespective
of the source of the input data, thus minimizing entry and manual
processes.
POLARIS can run on both UNIX and Windows platforms and utilize
Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase as its data repository.
The architecture allows business logic to be distributed to
ensure the scalability and flexibility needed to keep pace with
changes in pipeline topology and the evolution of e-commerce
