Environmental Protection >> Managing Environmental Emergencies
 Environment emergency management centres
offered by Telvent are aimed at preventing
environmental disasters like: floods, water
contamination, forest fires, toxic gas emission,
earthquakes, etc., and assist in the decision
taking in the face of the same to mitigate their
effects.
Environmental emergency management proposed by Telvent is characterised by offering the
customer three applications which are complementary:
- Continuous environment control. The system collects, analyses and stores
all the information from sensors located at strategic points which remit
data in real time for greater accuracy. These data are analysed with an
information treatment system, models and geographical information
systems, using a database for analysis containing detailed information on
water reserves, state of reservoirs, situation of river basins, roads, bridges,
water mains, etc. The system generates images and graphs with all this
besides collecting geographical and infrastructure.
- Contingency plan design, development and start-up. An effective crisis
management centre is responsible for designing and developing
contingency plans to assess processes of actions plans to be executed
during a crisis. In the event of a crisis, the system uses real time
information to notify the police, fire brigade, coast guards, navy, etc.,
reminding them of the recommended details of operational procedures
in response to the corresponding crisis to each of the organizations.
Simulation of possible scenarios. For training in contingency plan creation simulation exercises
are used where there are possible environmental disaster scenarios starting from common
bases, thus recreating the emergency and implementing the best plan prior to a real crisis.
Thanks to the solution offered by Telvent, people know how to act in a crisis and how to
implement an action plan the best way possible.
Telvent applies their entire experience in information systems for these environmental crisis
management centres to predict, forecast and where appropriate assist actively in decision
taking in adverse situations.
