Meteorology >> Remote Sensing
Telvent combines the latest technologies in weather radars and in electrical discharge detection
systems, to offer advanced solutions in data acquisition and the transmission, presentation and
integration of information, which also provide critical services by assisting in taking decisions.
These applications and services give support for dealing with adverse meteorological events
that could seriously affect the community.
Telvent expertise has been demonstrated in projects as complex as those that are outlined
below: change from S band to C band of 7 weather radars in Spain; maintaining and
upgrading the National Meteorological Radar Systems of Spain and Mexico (a total of 27
radars), and a complete National Meteorological System, including a radar, for the National
Meteorology Institute of Mozambique (INAM).
Moreover, Telvent, through its network of alliances with the most prestigious manufacturers in
the industry, has achieved the position of a global provider of complete solutions adapted to
the client’s needs. All of which allows Telvent to have state-of-the-art weather radars and
furnish all the associated essential services, which can include, among others, conducting site
surveys, engineering, global maintenance of the radar equipment, software and infrastructure,
the supply of spare parts, training, and even the operation.
In the field of remote sensing, Telvent is responsible for the integral maintenance and global
upgrade of the Spanish Weather Radar Network, operated by the Spanish National Institute of
Meteorology (INM), which comprises 15 weather radars. Within this project, it is included the
integration of the radar information with the info arriving from other remote sensing systems
like satellite information and lightning network info.
